Variety Of Light – first anniversary

DSC00750A

One year blogging on Variety Of Light: Learning photography (again) and hopefully finding a style on my very own someday – that’s what I’m still up to. I’ll continue to dig deeper into and maybe get a little bit more chatty about it. Whether that’s exchanging insights about composing and visual language or talking about techniques like color grading – I’m really looking forward to!

Both pictures here are showing the skyline from Frankfurt am Main downtown at dawn. They are previous work right from the beginning of this year but just with some retouching applied concerning aspect ratio (Cinemascope alike 1:2,35 used here) and color grading to get a slightly more “cinematic” feel. Already changing the aspect ratio involves a different framing and therefore composing which changes a lot. But more on that later – stay tuned!

  3. Superb photos! Thankyou for following my blog! I’m delighted to have found yours – love your idea of ‘cinematic’ shots, especially like the first one here with the contrast of baroque and modern!
